It's broken. Let's Fix it.
Integrity
It doesn't take a political science major to see that the integrity of our government and political system have been compromised, with career politicians focused on the division of the American people to ensure the highest chance at re-election. In a world that seems so obviously broken, it's appalling at how little our state and federal governments accomplish, all while smiling and waving, with false promises of change and hope.
innovation
As with every industry (and don't be mistaken...our government has absolutely become an industry), innovation is imperative to growth, development, and progress. Our current leaders are terrified by the idea of innovation, as it threatens the status quo, ensuring their continued power and wealth at the expense of the American people, whom they have sworn to represent and protect.
independent ideas
The two-party system, in tandem with our media outlets, have worked hard to create the LIE that any vote for an independent candidate is a wasted vote, and the equivalent of a vote for the opposing party. All the while, they tout the sacred ideology of democracy, which - in theory - would embrace ALL ideas, regardless of party affiliation, if the result was the betterment of the lives of the American people.
EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
About Jef Shaffer
Jef Shaffer is a father of two children, a new grandfather of a beautiful baby girl, the Music Director at School of Rock in Gahanna, Ohio, a local performing musician, a songwriter/recording artist, and a fiction author. His work experience is extensive, with a primary career focus on graphic design and marketing prior to the events of COVID in 2020, where he was forced to find work in outside fields, resulting in his position teaching and directing music to children at School of Rock, a role that has been the most rewarding career opportunity of his life to date.
A lifelong resident of Ohio, Jef spent his first thirteen years in Landen, Ohio, a suburb just north of Cincinnati, before his parents moved to Central Ohio in 1988. As an adult, circumstances and family redirected Jef's residence to Etna, Ohio, where he has lived since 2010.
Jef has devoted much of his adult life to charitable causes in an effort to improve the lives of those with life-threatening challenges. From 2014-2019, Jef was involved as a volunteer for NC4K, a Central Ohio-based pediatric cancer organization. He also served as a volunteer Board member and Treasurer for NC4K from 2016-2019. From 2015-2020, Jef's band, The Lovebenders, were annual performers on the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, including many local fundraisers for The James Cancer Center and the Urban & Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research. Additionally, Jef has donated time and services to the Licking County Humane Society.
Jef is an intelligent, driven, empathetic individual who sees a problem and sets his sights on doing what is within his power to improve or fix the issue. After years of further disenfranchisement with the current, two-party political system, Jef has decided to "put up or shut up," as is his tendency, and throw his hat in the ring for the 2026 Ohio House of Representatives for his district (68).
